A bladder infection is a very common infection that occurs when bacteria enters the opening of the urethra and then spreads through the urinary tract. A bladder infection is a lower urinary tract infection. If left untreated the infection could spread to the kidneys, and in severe cases could lead to reduced kidney function or even death.

Its said that bladder infections are far more common in women and in babies under the age of 2 years old. Women have more bladder infections than men because the urethra is shorter in women than in men. Bacteria can reach the bladder more easily in women because bacteria have a shorter distance to travel. This condition is almost unheard of in boys and young men.

Symptoms in young children would be- diarrhoea, fever, loss of appetite. In older children- lower back pain, frequent vomiting and pain in the abdomen. In adults- fever, blood in urine, urine that smells bad, cloudy urine, and the frequent need to urinate. These are just a few or the symptoms that could occur.

Treating A Bladder Infection

If one gets a bladder infection you will need to take a bladder infection remedy, doctors usually suggest it be treated with antibiotics. The infection will usually improve within a few days of treatment. The doctor will prescribe medication for a week to ten days. The medication must be taken for the entire time prescribed. Just because you start to feel better does not mean that the infection has been completely destroyed. As bladder infections are caused by bacteria, it is important that you complete the full dosage of the bladder infection remedy as instructed to prevent the infection from restarting.

If this happens you may have to be hospitalised, and the antibiotics will be administered for several weeks to avoid you getting serious kidney damage. You will also be required to drink lots of water to wash the bacteria out of the body. One should also avoid smoking, drinking coffee and alcoholic beverages.

Do not wait until you get a bladder infection and have to clear it up by using a bladder infection remedy. There are steps one can take to prevent getting a bladder infection altogether. They are as follows-

* If you have a baby make sure you change their dippers at least every 4 hours * Drink lots of water at least 8 glasses a day * Take showers instead of baths * Urinate after sexual intercourse * Also do not continually resist the urge to urinate, when nature calls, go.

One can always take a bladder infection remedy as there are products on the market one can use to relieve the symptoms if you have contracted a bladder infection. Such as Phyto Nova Cystemme, which is a bladder infection remedy with natural ingredients which kills infectious bacteria, relieves pain and burning. It also reduces swelling and the need to constantly urinate. However one should not just take a bladder infection remedy without visiting a doctor first.

Common Vitamins and over the counter products can help with treating Bladder Infections such as Vitamin C, Vitamin A, L-cysteine, Vitamin E, Zinc and Cranberry Juice.

Losing weight has never been so effective!

Vitamin C can reduce the risk of developing urinary bladder cancer in smokers and drinkers.

Vitamin A is an important immune system stimulant. DR. Nauss reported a reduced T-cell immune response in patients with a Vitamin A deficiency. Vitamin A deficiency may increase the risk of cancers of the lung, larynx, bladder, esophagus, stomach, colon, rectum and prostate. Vitamin A is stored in the liver and fat cells of the human body and can reach toxic levels. DO NOT take more than the recommended dosage of Vitamin A.

L-cysteine is another immune system stimulant but should always be taken in conjunction with Vitamin C to reduce the risk of developing stone formation in the kidneys and bladder.

Vitamin E accelerates wound healing and aids in the functioning of the immune system.

Zinc also has a profound influence on the body's ability to resist disease.

Cranberry Juice may also help prevent kidney and bladder infections. If you are taking COUMADIN then check with your doctor before using cranberry.

Always consult your doctor before using this information.
